When Jasmine Wall was growing up in India, she never imagined that her path would lead her to opening a small business in a small Indiana town.
But that’s the beauty of imagination: It make anything possible – including The Imagination Spot in Goshen, Indiana.
Inside the small studio and retail space on Washington Street, Jasmine has created a space where imagination comes to life in the form of fun, whimsy and color.
As a trained illustrator, Jasmine begins her process by sketching her ideas on paper and then draws the final design on a digital tablet. Some of her hand crafted designs are completed by lino-cut block printing.
Jasmine fell in love with gift giving and celebrating people. She is passionate about bringing smiles to people’s faces and making them happy.
“All of my designs are fun and whimsical,” she said. “I want people to look at them, smile and to hopefully brighten their day. In my designs you’ll see bright colors, patterns and little whimsical creatures.”
Her creations do attest to her drive for the whimsical by featuring animals such as foxes and hedgehogs along with puns to go with them. One of her top sellers is a journal that features a skunk and says “Stinking Good Ideas”.
Jasmine’s creations have found an audience across the United States. She sells her designs wholesale to other small independent gift stores in places like New York, California and up into Alaska.
However, she has found having a business in Goshen to be a rewarding experience.
“There are a lot of artists in Goshen and being downtown has been a really good way to meet them,” Jasmine said. “Goshen is a great community. Having a business in a small town helps because people recommend my shop by word of mouth. I love getting customers who were sent by others all the time.
This is the spot where imagination comes to life in the form of fun, colorful and sometimes quirky greeting cards, stationery, gifts and décor items. Creating products that bring smiles to faces and joy to hearts is Jasmine’s passion.
